I live in an HOA neighborhood, can I still have trees removed or trimmed?
How long does it take to remove a tree?
Does tree removal or trimming require a permit?
B&B Trees has experience working with HOAs! For a tree on communal property, contact your HOA to see if communal funds can be used to address a risky or diseased tree. If the tree is not creating a risk but you want it removed or trimmed for personal reasons, they may approve that the work be done but at your own cost. For trees on your own property, you may want to ask your HOA if they require notice or approval for major tree work. However, this typically only applies if it will significantly impact the aesthetics of the neighborhood or the property value.
Many factors affect the timeline, but for a general idea with a small local company like ours: If a tree is in a fairly open space, such as a front yard, a short tree around 20' tall might be felled and cleaned up in 3-5 hours. A medium (~45' tall) tree in the same location requires more time for felling and cleanup, typically taking a full day of work. If your tree is larger, or is in a space that's small or difficult to access, this means more extensive rigging and a longer cleanup time. A tree that's 80' tall in a tight space may take 2-3 days of work to be safely felled and fully cleaned up. For a multi-day job with B&B Trees, we'll make sure any walking or driving paths are cleared before the end of each day and that no hazardous equipment is left on site.
Some city regulations (or county regulations, if you live in an unincorporated area) do require permitting. Most often this is for removal of larger trees, but sometimes permits are required for the removal of smaller trees or for extensive trimming of trees. We are happy to help you navigate this process! Feel free to contact us even if you are not ready to hire a tree service - we can let you know the requirements that are applicable to your address.
